Thinking of the 4th of July, I’m reminded of all of the great things about this time of the year, plus the fact that we are so fortunate to celebrate the great United States of America! To all of the men and women who are serving or have served our country – THANK YOU! We are blessed to call this our home.
Sparklers, fireworks, bonfires, roasting marshmallows, hot dogs, swimming and catching lightning bugs are all images that are coming to mind as I think back to all of the good times I have had in year’s past with my family and friends.
I can recall many summer days around the 4th having fun on the Slip-n-Slide, spitting out the seeds of watermelon on the ground, making s’mores and just running through the grass barefooted.
Now that I am older, just breathing in the fresh, summer night air, watching fireworks, hot dogs on the grill and enjoying the company of my family is what I am looking forward to this year. Hanging out on the porch with a good book or magazine and listening to the crickets, also sounds nice.
I think I will have to go through my recipe books to find something yummy to make. So many wonderful summer deserts to choose from, it will be hard to pick one. It is coming up quickly, so I better get to it soon. 🙂
What do you have planned for Independence Day? Whatever you do, I hope that you have a blast and are safe and sound.
