I have found some great ways to use lemons for solving household problems. Lemons are yummy for consuming, and they are very useful in the home as well.
Take a look below at these 5 ways you can use lemons around your house:
Keep the Refrigerator Smelling Fresh:
To keep the fridge smelling fresh, take some lemon juice that you have squeezed out and place it on a cotton ball or sponge. Leave it in the refrigerator for several hours and then remove it. Oh, and be sure that you eliminate any expired food, so that it will continue smelling great.
Litter Box Odor:
Instead of using a spray to get rid of foul smelling cat litter box odors, simply use a couple of lemons. Cut them in half and place them cut side up on in a dish in the room where your litter box is located, and the air will begin to have a lemon-fresh scent. I never thought of this, and it is so simple! Going to try it for sure.
Keep Ants And Other Insects out of the Kitchen:
Why buy ant traps or use insecticides when you can keep ants out of your kitchen the natural way? Squirt some lemon juice on windowsills, cracks, door thresholds, etc. where the ants are coming in. Plus, place small slices of lemon peel around the outdoor entrance. They don’t like the smell and will take a hike somewhere else.
Here is another solution to your fight against roaches and fleas: mix the juice of 4 lemons (along with the rinds), add 1/2 gallon of water and wash your floors with it. They can’t stand the smell either and will flee. Yay!
Fruit and Vegetable Wash:
Fruits and vegetables need to be washed after you bring them home from the store, as there are remnants of pesticides and dirt hiding on the skin of them. Here is how you can handle this problem: take a sliced lemon and squeeze out one tablespoon of juice into a spray bottle. Spray the lemon juice on and it will act as a natural disinfectant. Plus, it will leave your fruits and vegetables smelling nice too.
Get Rid of Mildew on Clothing:
You may have encountered mildew stains when unpacking clothes that you have stored. A great way to take care of this problem is to make a paste of lemon juice and salt and rub it on the affected area. After doing so, dry the clothing in the sunlight and continue repeating this process until the stain is completely gone.
Hope that these ideas help you! Let me know if you have other household tips for using lemons.
