My husband had a doctor appointment in Jupiter, Florida, on Tuesday (June 30, 2015), and we decided to leave a day early to find some fun things to do in the area since it was 2 1/2 hours away. We love exploring and sightseeing, and this town and the areas surrounding it were so nice. It was a good chance for us to have a little getaway.
The weather had not been great – rainy and stormy – but we noticed that the reports called for the rain to stop early in the evening. So, we found a really, really nice Courtyard by Marriott that was right across the street from Roger Dean Stadium. After checking in, we walked over to take in the baseball game.
Hanging out until the rain delay was over, my husband, son and I had a great chance to visit with each other. We walked around the stadium’s enclosed area before taking our seats. Being that the weather was rainy, there were not many people with us in the stands, and they let us sit wherever we wanted. We chose right behind the plate, which gave us an amazing view of the game and the rest of the stadium. I have to say that this park was absolutely BEAUTIFUL! The stadium was built in 1998 and holds 6,871 people by the way of luxury sky-box seating and 2 levels of permanent seating.
This stadium is the only one in Florida that hosts two Major League Baseball teams annually for spring training. They are the Miami Marlins and the St. Louis Cardinals. Very cool! We were able to watch the Palm Beach Cardinals vs. the Daytona Tortugas.
Of course, you cannot go to a baseball game and not get a hot dog! Hehehehe!! We all grabbed one and enjoyed them. And, during the game, there was a gorgeous rainbow that caught our attention. So neat. The final score was 3-2 with the home team almost winning, but the Cardinals just came up short.
As we left, we all agreed that we would be returning for another game down the road.Such a fun experience.
Now, back at the hotel after our 2 minute walk, we retired to our spacious one bedroom room and ate some snacks, watched a little Food Network and got some sleep. We find that having a separate sleeping area from our son helps us all get a better night’s rest – he likes to leave the TV on, and I have to have darkness. The layout of our unit was really well thought out and as I mentioned before – spacious! Nice clean, modern decor and the bed was really comfy too, which helped us get a great sleep.
I highly recommend this hotel and baseball park if you have a chance. We had a really fantastic time.
