Our day begins shortly after 6:30 am with alarms going off in 2 different bedrooms and a mad dash to the bathroom as 2 pre-teen/teen daughters rush to get ready. At the same time, my son, who used to just hop right up every morning with a smile on his face, now moans, rolls over, and rolls again, and then stretches, and then stretches again slowly rolls off his bed and onto the floor.
Me, I just slip on some comfy clothes, a pony tail, and a big pair of sunglasses (yes, the classic, and not always pretty Mom look!) and watch the commotion as they all load into the car at 7 am. With the middle school carpool done around 7:30, it’s back home to finish up and get ready for the elementary run. Hopefully in the middle of all the racing, I get a chance to take off the sunglasses and put on some make-up and do my hair.
No two days are ever alike in a week for me, but sometime around 9 am while the kids are now all safely at school, I head to my flower shop to meet with clients and brides. I run countless errands to pick up supplies, vases, and flowers for the shop. I try to sneak in a church meeting or two and always find a day or two to take my husband lunch….after all, it’s the little things that matter most!
2 o’clock comes very fast and then its off to the middle school for afternoon pick ups! Straight from there to the elementary for more kids and hopefully home to start the homework and dinner routine. By the time evening comes, as I sit down on the couch thoughts of not making it to the gym in the last 3 months run through my head, how many weeds need to be pulled, and mounting piles of laundry to do, I realize, as my kids hug me, kiss me, tell me they love me, and cover me up on the couch as I have dozed off, that my day was perfect!
