Holiday Shopping Done Right with #AngryBirdsPrepaid

December 2, 2013By 1 Comment

Christmas shopping around here can be a bit of a stress and financial worry. I have a financial plan every month and I do not like going outside of my set budget. Every month I always have a little extra money that gets set aside for unexpected expenses and also the holiday season. Sadly, usually when the holiday season rolls around I’ve spent the money as it is just sitting in my bank account with the rest of my finances. I had to find a way to save up some funds that aren’t connected to my everyday account.

I hunted, I searched and I finally found a solution I actually trust. I am one who doesn’t usually use prepaid cards with the mere worry that if someone got their hands on the card they could use it, but a solution has been presented to me!

Angry Birds™ Visa® Prepaid Cards

That’s right, I am actually using a prepaid card this holiday season for all my shopping needs. I found a prepaid card that is reloadable, secure and allows me to shop both in store & online.

Many other prepaid cards on the market are very hard to load and not accepted in most places if not recognized. It has always been a frustration of mine. With the Angry Birds™ Visa® Prepaid Cards I can reload my card anytime, via Interact or online and if I’m feeling nice I can even load my kids allowance onto it and let them feel more “adult” using their own prepaid card.

These cards can be used in many ways including:

  • Anywhere Visa is accepted
  • Mobile banking
  • iTunes account
  • Online shopping

The fact I can connect this card with iTunes is a great idea. With both kids being massive iPad users, I could put this card onto their account and allow them to purchase apps and other iTunes items with their allowances without the worry of them spending excessive amounts. I can full out budget what they spend and only put on the amount they are allowed.

Advantages of Using Prepaid Card

We couldn’t resist telling you some of the massive advantages of using a prepaid card over a credit card because well, we got some credit card debt and have chopped up those cards but missed having a “credit card”.

The following are some of the major advantages of a Angry Birds™ Visa® Prepaid Card:

  • No Interest Rates
  • 1.5% cash back
  • No approval process
  • Usable where Visa accepted
  • Free card to card transfers (great option for parents of 13+ children)
  • Reload whenever you want
  • Pay before you spend versus spend and be in debt
  • Easy registration process
  • Card shipped in days
  • Usable in Canada and Internationally

Okay, there are a lot of advantages to this card. It is exactly why we went with it for our financial needs. We really missed having the ability to shop online and missed having our extra monthly money somewhere that it can be budgeted easily.

Knowing What is Being Spent

This is something I must know, what is being spent all the time. I am not joking when I say I am a budget nut. I stick to my budget to a tee. With this card I can keep tabs of every penny going out via text message, on my smart phone, or by checking the spending report that is made available on my online account. I am literally able to monitor it all! Sorry kids, nothing is getting past me with this card.

The card can be used to pay for just about anything. I have the ability to use it to pay bills online if Visa is accepted, for my secret online shopping habit or if needed I can withdrawal funds from it.

My holiday budgeting got very easy with this card. Each week I just transfer the extra funds into the card and I access when needed. I no longer have the worry that I’ll spend the money in my bank account as it is in a separate account, safe and secure. My card is PIN activated so if someone doesn’t know my PIN, they can’t use it. Even though it is a Visa, the PIN is required for purchases.

Holiday Shopping We Go!

To give my card a full one over, I took it out on a date. My date consisted of heading to a few local shops and giving it the loving it deserves. Swipe after swipe I had no issues, and the ability to get all my Christmas shopping done without touching any of my budgeted funds in my bank account.

By the end of our date, I was able to get all our shopping done and stayed right in my budget, with a few extra dollars to spare for a little spoiling on myself. Can you say White Chocolate Mocha?!

I found a lot of great items for great prices! The kids were not only excited for their “early” Christmas presents but very excited that Mommy found some top list items for them. Who knew shopping before Black Friday would mean saving more then I would of actually saved on Black Friday?!

OMG! WHat an amazing idea. I have never thought of it. It is so simple but would be the perfect answer to saving because like you, if its in the account, I spend it but if it were on a card I would not. ALso, I have started paying things down including vacations instead of waiting until the last minute and getting the shock of my life. Great idea. Thanks. Happy New Year.
